Hi,

I purchased the Brothermax thermometer a month or so ago, and just needed to use it during my (and teh kids illness). I found it very inaccurate. I compared it to the braun one we have, and mainly I knew i was a lot 'warmer' than what it told me. Always 1-1.5 deg off.

Does anyone else have this problem?????????

Hi maysaa

I have the same problem with my Brothermax. It tells me that our "normal" temperature is around 35.5, and when I am using it as a room thermometer it is always about 1.5 degrees lower than the temp on the Angelcare monitor.

It's a convenient thermometer & very easy to use, but I always have to add about 1.5 to any temp reading that it gives.

Hi Ladies:

Thank you for your questions. We have had this problem reported previously and there is a very easy solution. The best thing for you to do is to email customerservice@saveoursleep.com and we will forward the appropriate information sheet to help you operate your thermometer correctly.

Hi Maysaa

Are you still having problems with your Brothermax thermometer? I have contacted Brothermax directly today via their website as I am very unhappy with it!

I tried all of the solutions that they provided in their user guide and it is still terribly inaccurate when reading temps.

Last night at 2.30am Oscar woke up with a horrible fever, he was really really hot & bright red. The Brothermax insisted that his temp was between 34.6 & 35.4 (I tested twice, but left the 10 seconds between each read that they recommend). I then had to run around the house looking for other thermometers as I knew that was not correct, and 2 other thermometers both gave readings of almost 40 degrees.

It will be interesting to see what they come back with, as I have noticed that there are people on facebook having the same problem also.

Hi Kate:

I feel really bad about the BM thermometer I have never had a problems with them apart from the fact they seem to be a degree out if you don’t follow the instructions correctly. But until I saw the post on facebook the other day I have never had an issue. We will be contacting the them on Monday to see if they had a bad batch or anything, I presume you got it from us? Have you taken your temperature with them and if so what are they reading?

Le gach dea-ghui, Tizzie

Hi Tizzie

I didn't get it from you guys, I bought it from Baby Kingdom a few months before you started selling them, which is why I contacted brothermax directly today. I will let you know what they come back to me with.

When I take my temp with it it is usually around 35.5. We also have an Omron ear thermometer, I used that today on myself & got a reading of 36.6, a few minutes later I took Oscar's temp and it was 38.8, then I took his temp straight away with the brothermax and it only read 34.6 (or 34.8, haven't had much sleep & can't remember exactly!).

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it, because it is a great design.

Hi Tizzie

Kevin, the BM distributor, took my thermometer to BM headquarters in London a few weeks ago.

I heard back from him a couple of days ago. He said that they have sent the thermometer to a laboratory for further testing as they believe it to be accurate. However, he then offered to either send me other BM products to the value of the thermometer, or refund me the cost of the thermometer. I am curious as to why he would do this if there was no fault with the product.

At the end of the day though he was extremely helpful, I have asked him to let me know what the verdict is after the laboratory testing, I will let you know if he keeps me informed.

I hope it isn't too off as I just bought this from the Save Our Sleep® ® website as everyone told me my gro egg was inaccurate (or many Mums had probs with the gro egg)..I had the gro egg, brothermax and my old monitor on toread its temp and they were all EXACTLY the same. So if my brothermax is out then all of mine are! I might go and take my temp also with it and another one I have and see how I go....

Hi Rozzie

I am sure they aren't all dodgy, I think I just had a faulty one.

If your Brothermax is reading the same as your other thermometers then I am sure it is fine.

Rozzie - have you tested the body temp too? Mine was almost accurate with room temp (maybe 1 degree out) but with body temp using either ear or head method it was terribly inaccurate.
