Hi Jules:

Toddlers flipping the spoon over like this before they put it in their mouth is very normal and stage all children seem to go through.

To help there are a few things you can do.

1. Continue to sit with him and place his spoon in his hand and direct it into his mouth praising him the whole time saying "This is how you put the spoon in your mouth, good boy, the food won't fall off it you do it like this. You have a try now...." keep reinforcing not to flip the spoon over

2. You could try giving him the other spoon to hold in his left hand as he may be left handed and this might help him to get the spoon into his mouth without flipping it over.

The spoons are shaped like they are to assist in toddlers feeding themselves. Sometimes it just takes a bit of perserverence and time.

Cheers,
Kay
