My son has been sick for about a week, just a cold I think and I started walking him to sleep for his day sleeps as I thought it was mean to let him self settle while he was sick.
He no longer sleeps during the day and is waking up every hour at night.
Any suggestions?

Hi Cadel: Welcome to Save Our Sleep® , the post isn’t in the perfect place but you will get the hang of the advice area soon. It sounds to me like you need to go back to square one and teach Cadel how to settle again. I would suggest you start at 7 am in the morning and follow the routine for his age to the minute and the settling advice for his age. I would suspect he is waking in the night because he wants to get walked again. But you do need to be sure he is eating and drinking enough for his age and you have his bedding correct before you try the settling advice. So I would suggest you answer the below questions so one of the mums on here can help you out. Baby on solids Baby's Age: Baby’s name: Are you feeding your baby until they are full? So never putting a set amount in a bottle or feeding for a set amount of time or just one breast? What solids are you feeding your baby and exactly what foods are you giving as much detail as possible will really help including what texture the food is. Where do you live? What do you have your baby dressed in day and night for sleeps? What Wrap or Swaddle are you using? What temperature is your baby's room? What type of safe sleeping bag are you using and what tog is it? How many layers of sheets and blankets are you using and what are they made out of? Have you got a plastic or PVC mattress protector fitted on the cot or basinet? Has your baby got a dummy? Has your baby got a comforter and if so what type is it? Can you list your baby’s exact routine with as much detail as possible and how much he or she eats. Please be sure to list the last 20 minutes before bed at night in great detail. Le gach dea-ghui, Tizzie |

I would have prob put it into a specific sleep section rather than the "Book and Product Reviews" section.
In terms of your question it sounds like he may have just got in the habit of you helping him to sleep. I know when I have done certain things to get Cate through a sickness it takes a bit of "tough love" so to speak to get her back to normal.
How is he now? I would be inclined to make sure he is comfortable when you put him to bed and leave him to self settle. With a cold I usually clear her nose out, put some Eucky Bear Rub on her chest (a vicks type thing) and leave her to it. It might take awhile for him to get back to where he was before the sickness.

It's Darrell here; father of Cadel. Seeing that Cadel's mum in all her haste didn't check the location of this topic, I might just go and paste the questions and responses into a better location where everyone can enjoy the fun facts that are; Our Sleepless Nights.
